Events

Our 10-year reunion will take place over Thanksgiving weekend, beginning with a casual happy hour in Clarendon on Friday, November 25. The main reunion event will be held Saturday, November 26 in northeast Washington, DC. Additional details are available on the respective event pages, which can be accessed from the site header.

Tickets

Can I still buy a ticket?

 

Ticket sales will remain open on EventBrite throughout the week. We will be raising ticket prices progressively after 11/21 ($5/day) to reflect the increased cost of food ordered after our initial bulk order for the event. We will also accept cash at the door ($60). 

Can I buy a discounted ticket for my spouse?

No, all tickets are a flat fee. Children can attend both events free of charge.

 

What does my ticket include?

Tickets to the reunion include light appetizers at the Friday happy hour, plus food and drinks at Smith Public Trust. You will receive 2 drink tickets at the Saturday event and serve platters throughout the evening. You can order additional food at both venues. Most cocktails and select beer and wine will be available for $5 on Saturday – a price we have negotiated with the venue for our event.

Can I get a discount if I don’t drink?

No, but probably you can convince someone to trade you money for your drink tickets.

Accessibility

Are venues accessible?

Smith Public Trust is fully accessible with the possible exception of stairs to access the rear patio. We will update with information about the venue in Clarendon.

I have a dietary restriction. Will there be food that I can eat?

We will be serving a variety of food (happy hour details here  – no menu is available from Smith at this time). If your allergies prevent you from enjoying our group purchases, we may be able to arrange for a voucher for you to order food on your own. Please let us know your requirements by email.

How can I request accommodations?

Is there financial assistance available for low-income graduates?

Yes. We want all our classmates to be able to attend regardless of ability to pay. To this end, we will have comp tickets available for anyone experiencing financial hardship, and hope that others will consider making a donation for this purpose via the ticket sales page. Please email tjhsst.classof2006@gmail.com. Only the event organizers will have access to the list of graduates receiving comp tickets.

Can teachers or other TJ staff attend?

Yes.

What about friends?

Sure, but let’s try to keep the TJ:guest ratio pretty close to 1:1.

Who’s organizing this?

Leslie Hansen and Anita Kinney. Jason Ethier is helping but if you receive a reply from the Gmail account, it’s Anita or Leslie.

Is this an official event?

Yes, we are working with the Alumni Association. This is the official reunion. For the record: we are not getting paid, we are paying personally upfront for all advance costs, and we will be reimbursed from the ticket sales via EventBrite following the event’s conclusion.

Can I volunteer?

We may need help at the door, and if you’d like to DJ that would be cool too. We have hired a photographer from 7-10pm but would welcome any additional high-quality images.
